With federal funds tightening at the same time that opportunity for breakthrough discovery is accelerating, private support is critical as a means to bridge the gap and help the UW Cardiovascular Research Center achieve its mission of advancing translational cardiovascular research and medicine. Translational research, or more colloquially, "from cell to bedside", means the development and application of research results from the level of the cell and molecule, through intact tissue and animal models, to the patient or bedside. Translational research is based upon the idea that understanding mechanisms of disease at the molecular and cellular level will lead to improved therapy for patients.

We invite you to be part of the investment in the future of cardiovascular research. There are many opportunities to support research, education, facilities, outreach activities and programs at the UW Cardiovascular Research Center that truly make a difference and contribute to better heart health for all.

We hope you have had a chance to review our web site and see the important research that the faculty, scientists and trainees in our Center are engaged in – from regenerative medicine, human proteomics, heart failure, arrhythmias, and vascular biology to the application of our research to patient care. We have extensive training programs for medical students, graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. We support areas of emerging cardiovascular science and we foster collaboration in important areas of cardiovascular research such as heart failure, arrhythmias and vascular disease that can only be addressed through interdisciplinary approaches.
