The goal of the Cardiovascular Research Conference will be to foster
interactions among cardiovascular investigators and to energize
research efforts through informal and interactive presentations
of current research and
future challenges. Each conference will focus on a particular
theme or topic and will be hosted by an investigator who will
be responsible for that conference. The style of the conference
will be like an open lab meeting rather than formal didactic
presentations.
The conference host will invite 2 to 4 investigators to make
brief informal 15-20 minute presentations related to the chosen
theme followed by an equal amount of time for discussion.
The conferences will be from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of
each month in G5/136, Clinical Science Center. Food and
beverages will be provided. Parking is available nearby in Lot 63
at that time of day.
Below is a list of example topics. Specific topics will be
provided as soon as they are available.
- Electrical remodeling in heart disease
- Myofilament function and dysfunction
- Cardiac hypertrophy
- Diabetes and cardiovascular disease
- Endothelial dysfunction
- Cardiovascular imaging frontiers
- Calcium cycling in myocytes
- Signaling pathways regulating cardiovascular function
- PKC in the heart
- Transgenic mice models of heart failure
- Gene therapy for cardiovascular disease
- Cellular remodeling in heart failure
- Protein trafficking defects in cardiovascular disease
- Ischemia and Stunning in the Myocardium
- Clinical trials in heart failure
